  9. Two-in-One originates from Germany and initially only a German version of
  10. the program and documentation was available. Thanks to Joe Connor and the
  11. System ST Team an English version is now supported in the UK.
  12.  
  13. Two-in-One is intuitive to use and features on-line help using ST-Guide, 
  14. an excellent Hypertext system programmed by Holger Weets.

  20. ST-GUIDE installation
  21. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  23. The basic installation of ST-GUIDE is simple. Don't be put off the number 
  24. of files included in the ST-GUIDE distribution. For normal use just copy 
  25. ST-GUIDE.ACC to your boot drive or partition and reboot your system. The 
  26. files TWOINONE.HYP and TWOINONE.REF should reside in your Two-in-One 
  27. directory.

  29. If you are already using ST-Guide and want to take advantage of the 
  30. advanced configuration abilities of ST-GUIDE (e.g. setting a default path 
  31. for all your hypertext files), also copy the ST-GUIDE .INF file to your 
  32. boot drive or partition.

  35. About Two-in-One
  36. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  38. You can start Two-in-One in several different ways:
  39. From a Command line; the GEM Shell is not called and Two-in-One enters
  40. 'Manager' mode where files are automatically archived and unarchived.
  41. Using the drag n drop feature bulit into most desktops;
  42.  
  43. Starting Two-in-One directly; the GEM Shell is called which enables a
  44. simple intuitive interface capable of handling LZH, ZIP, ZOO, ARC and ARJ
  45. archives.
  46.  
  47. The output from the archive programs is handled by a GEM Window. Under
  48. MultiTOS and MAG!X, Two-in-One and the archive programs are started in
  49. parallel mode and the output from the archive program handled by the
  50. respective utility, MINIWIN.APP with MultiTOS and VT52.PRG with MAG!X.

  53. The 'Manager' functions
  54. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  56. The following keys can be used in 'Manager' mode:
  57.  
  58. [Shift]: Hold this key down to call the GEM Shell which will appear
  59. pre-loaded with the selected archive.
  60.  
  61. [Alternate]: Hold this key down to create a folder with the same name as
  62. the archive into which the archive will be unpacked.

  65. Supported archive formats
  66. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  68. LHARC: Versions >=2.20 of LHarc programmed by Christian Grunenberg are
  69.        supported. From V2.30 password support is included.
  70.  
  71. ZIP:   Versions >=2.0 of STZip programmed by Vincent Pomey are supported.
  72.  
  73. ZOO:   Versions >=2.0 of ZOO adapted for the ST by Gereon Steffens.
  74.  
  75. ARC:   I've tested Two-in-One with V6.02. Unfortunately some of the
  76.        options detailed in the documentation don't function as described
  77.        and other options don't appear to be implemented...
  78.  
  79. UNARJ: Versions >=2.41 of UNARJ are supported. This is the first version
  80.        to offer sensible parameters for handling archives. Other UNARJ
  81.        programs are no longer supported. The documentation supplied with
  82.        this software is confused and badly structured, just what you'd
  83.        expect from MS-DOS-software.
  84.  
  85. It's quite likely that Two-in-One will not perform flawlessly with other
  86. (mostly earlier) versions of the archive programs listed above. If you
  87. experience problems with either Two-in-One or any of the supported
  88. archive programs please let me know.

  91. Other stuff you should know
  92. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  94.  -All new features will not necessarily be detailed here. Take a look in
  95.   the file TWOINONE.NEW for details of the latest revisions.
  96.  
  97.  -TWOINONE.CFG contains the options for the individual archive programs.
  98.   You can change these using a text editor but be careful not to change
  99.   the lines which begin with '#'. Additionally it's important not to enter
  100.   more than 26 options per archive program!
  101.  
  102.  -To use Two-in-One in 'Manager' mode from the desktop/GEMINI it's
  103.   important to bear in mind the following:
  104.   As a default path you should normally use the path of the archive. As an
  105.   expert option you could, for example, take the path of the top window,
  106.   as a default. In this case the active path must come from Gemini and not
  107.   Two-in-One. You can set this from within Gemini using the following
  108.   option: 'setenv TWOINONE_PRG "D:N"' or 'setenv OPT_TWOINONE_PRG "D:N"'
  109.   Incidentally, on starting Two-in-One the Directory window displays the
  110.   current directory, and ignores whatever directory the Shell would
  111.   otherwise look for.

  113.  -If you install Two-in-One using the built-in Atari desktop be sure to
  114.   set the 'Full path' option in the 'Install application' dialog under
  115.   the Parameter setting.
  116.  
  117.  -The menu shortcuts can easily be changed using a Resource file editor
  118.   (eg Interface).
  119.  
  120.  -Ghost dialogs: Hold down either [Shift] key or the right mouse button
  121.   and click on the Flying Dial corner to make it 'invisible'. This is
  122.   useful, for example, to view the main Two-in-One window under a Help
  123.   dialog.
  124.  
  125.  -Problems with QUICK ST/TURBO ST/WARP 9: It has come to my attention that
  126.   some people have problems with the archiver-redirection, which doesn't
  127.   get to the desired window and is printed all over the screen. This is
  128.   caused by one of the programs mentioned above, it's not a bug in
  129.   Two-in-One! There are two ways to fix this problem:
  130.   *Use CONS_FIX.PRG and place it in your AUTO folder, which must run before
  131.    QUICK ST or TURBO ST.
  132.   *The best solution: Buy NVDI.
  133.  
  134.  -Currently Two-in-One can display up to 3000 files per archive with a
  135.   maximum of 1024 files in any folder. If you try to display a drive or
  136.   archive exceeding the limits a dialog appears to let you know. Dynamic
  137.   handling of these limits is planned for a future version of Two-in-One.

  140. UK Support and Registration

  143. Two-in-One is Shareware and may be freely distributed for non-commercial
  144. purposes. If you use Two-in-One regularly you are honour bound to pay a
  145. Shareware fee of DM 20 to the author.
  146.  
  147. Two-in-One is NOT a Freeware Program! PD libraries, magazines or any other
  148. organisations may only distribute Two-in-One with my written permission.
  149. Any contravention of my wishes will be strongly challenged.
